Proof of departure...?

Hi everyone. My husband and I are in the midst of an around the world trip, and we'll be flying to Seoul next week. We will take a ferry from there to Japan, and have a confirmed flight from Japan to Hawaii in early August.

Can anyone tell me if the onward flight ticket from Japan is acceptable "proof of departure" for South Korea, in order to enter the country for a few days? Otherwise, can someone recommend a good option for a flexible ferry ticket from S Korea (probably Busan) to Japan? We don't want to be locked in to a particular travel date/time.

We are travelling on UK passports.

Korean immigration probably won't care, I know lots of people who have entered on one way flights with no problems. I'm not sure about flexible ferry tickets, you could try contacting kangsan travel based in Busan however it can often be cheaper to fly with busan air but they would be fixed tickets. Kangsan might do you a fake flight itinery for a fee, it used to be common to book a flight, get the itinery and then cancel the flight in order to get schools to pay for said flights for teachers.

hi there,i also have the same problem im flying into seoul in october and have a flight home to uk from japan,embassy told me i must have an onward ticket out of korea,park travel in london mailed me tday and they can get me a ferry ticket from busan to fukuoka for £85 i am going to go for that as it is £200 to flyinto osaka,there number is 02074952525,goodluck.

We did similar but in reverse - ie we flew into Japan, took the ferry to Korea and then departed from Incheon. Neither the Japanese or Korean immigration/customs officers wanted to see any proof of outward flights so you should be fine.

It turned out that Vietnam immigration asked more questions as we were departing from Hanoi, than Korean immigration asked as we arrived in Seoul! No problem at all - we didn't even have to prove that we had a ticket from Japan. They just wanted some reassurance that we had some concept of how long we were staying and how we would travel onwards. Interestingly (or maybe randomly), my husband got a lot more questions from the Korean official than I did.
