This website tends to feature discussion of the needs and interests of short-term travellers.

I think the type of info you need will be more easily found on one of the expat websites. Google "Seoul expat" or try one of these:

seoul.asiaxpat.com/

www.korea4expats.com/

www.internations.org/expats/guide/south-korea/seoul

You sound like a DOD Civilian, and if you are, you need to contact your unit/employer first for relocation package (or for any established chain of support) rather than asking random expats.

Agree with the previous poster. This is not the appropriate forum for you.

Your circumstances are different from other expats because you will be working for a military base in Korea.

You didn't mention your status. Servicemembers and federal employees are routinely assigned "sponsors" who assist with local information.

It sounds like you will be working as a contractor and won't be receiving housing assistance. Contact your employer and have them assist you with housing options and local information. Ask about temporary lodging to gap the time while you are househunting when you arrive in Korea and start work.

Relocation packet. Contact the Army Community Services (ACS) for base information. The ACS has a relocation manager and is a clearinghouse of information on military services and the local community. These are also available on-line.

Housing Office. Located in the same building as the ACS, even though you may not qualify for housing assistance, you can pick up a list of off-post housing providers.

To get familiar with Yongsan Garrison base services, visit their web site at:

http://yongsan.korea.army.mil/

The army's web site provides information and links to other posts in Korea:

http://www.usfk.mil/usfk/

To learn about Korea, visit the national tourist office's web site at:

After working with your employer, if, for example, you're a contractor and and don't receive housing assistance, you might turn to some of the expat web sites for information and advice.
