Hello
I may be staying in South Korea in February next year for one week.
I would love to stay in a traditional Hanok style housing and am looking at Seoul and Andong (Jirye artist village looks wonderful) as destinations.
Because these houses do not have effective mosquito proofing, will I be at risk while i'm sleeping... i do not wish to cover myself with DEET 24 hours a day.
I also do not wish to have to get JE vaccine - but am i at risk?... is Andong folk village considered Rural?
As i mentioned before: I will be travelling in February, which appears to be extremely cold -0.3 degrees celsius and i will only be staying for a week.
in Australia you barely see a mosquito in winter, they swarm you in summer... is South Korea the same?
Thankyou for your help :)

I lived in Korea for 2 years and can't recall ever seeing (or feeling) a mosquito...

At that time of year - you will only be bitten by the frost...

Yeah, at that time of year, you won't have to worry about mosquitoes.
About the Andong folk village, if you are talking about Hahoe Maeul, it's not terribly rural. A city bus will get you between the village and city in less than an hour, and a taxi much quicker.

There are lots of mosquitoes in Korea during the late summer/fall, but none in the wnter. You will be safe. Cheers!

do you know most vaccines contain traces of mercury compounds? Think twice before you take that jab!
