Hi

I am going to Korea next year and make a short visit to Japan.

Hopefully radiation problem will be settle by then.

Anyone knows which airlines operates cheap flights?
I heard that there are many smallsize regional airlines flying there other than big airlines like JAL and Korean air and Asiana. any website would be much appreciated.

Also there is a ferry from Busan to somewhere in Japan....any website and would that be a lot cheaper than flight i guess??

thanks

Ferry is not cheap.

There are limited budget airlines as Korea and Japan are essentially both islands.

Try jeju air for a budget airlines and take a look at asia budget airlines and whichbudget.com

You can buy a combined Rail-Ferry-Rail ticket. Although, doing this from outside of Korea might be hard. For more info see these 2 website:

We booked Rail-Ferry-Rail Korea to Japan in August and this was cheaper than our Tokyo-Seoul flight on the way back.

Air Busan flies from Busan to Fukuoka, Osaka (Kansai) and Tokyo (Narita). I've flown with them before and they were great. You can buy tickets on their English website, and if you buy them far enough in advance you can usually get pretty reasonable prices. They or Jeju Air, mentioned by a previous poster, are probably your best bet for a cheap flight.
The ferry you mention in your post is from Busan to Fukuoka/Hakata. It's called the JR Beetle or MiraeJet in Korea but I don't think it's any cheaper than flying if you book your plane tickets in advance.
There's also a ferry from my city (Donghae) to Sakaiminato in Tottori-ken, Japan. I think it's reasonably priced, but it's slow (usually overnight I think) and Sakaiminato is very far from anywhere in Japan you're likely to want to go.

Here are the websites for Air Busan and Jeju Air:

[http://www.jejuair.net/] (there's a link for the English in the top right)

the ferry from Busan goes to Fukuoka if you want to go to Tokyo , its a very long expensive ride up the whole of the country to get there.
