Hi,

I have a ticket to go to Seoul for 8 days just after Christmas but unfortunately I have very little money to spend. Can people suggest cheap places to stay in Seoul and perhaps Kyeong-ju (if I can get that far)? The Khaosan Insadong Seoul Guesthouse seems okay on its website - are they connected tot eh Khaosan group of hostels in Japan?

Any advice most welcome.

Ian

Go for hostels with dorm rooms if you're on a budget. There are lots of them in Hongdae, Sinchon, Myeongdong areas. Usually about 20000-25000won for a bed. Go to websites like Hostelworld to look for options and rates.

There are some hostels in Gyeongju too. You can google for them too.
Express buses/Intercity buses to Gyeongju from Seoul is about 20000-30000won one way, depending on the class. KTX fare is 40000-50000won

If you would to visit Jeonju for a few hours, there's a free shuttle service

I plan to stay at this place which has good reviews and reasonable prices.

I stayed at Sa Rang Chae in Gyeong-ju and I absolutely loved it; not sure about room dorms though if you can share it with anybody or how does it work, you can contact them and ask as they speak English.
Check this out anyway, there are other two options that look pretty good:
