If in Sokcho for 3 days, you must go to Soraksan National Park, possibly top 3 in the country. Just south of Sokcho is Naksan beach and temple, both worth a look.

In Danyang, I stayed at Rivserside Hotel which as the name suggests, is on the riverside. As you're walking towards the long bridge across the river, turn left and follow the river down and you'll find the Riverside Hotel. If it's the same owner, he speaks English well. I found it using the LP guidebook.

I went to Danyang last week and I stayed in a Djimjil-bong near the Danyang Bus Terminal. Also, the Riverside Hotel is very nice and there's many other hotels all along the river. The Djimjil-Bong is across the street from the bus terminal and is only 8,000 Wons per night, but the situation is very different than a hotel; it is similar to a youth hostel.

Good luck and have fun.

I agree with MonkeyPuzzle Sokcho is fine for 1 day- 2 at a push but using it as a base to explore Saroksan is a good idea. I'd suggest at least 2 days in Saroksan as the scenery is beautiful.

You can easily spend 2 days hiking in Seoraksan! The mountains are stunning... so do yourself the favour and go.

Well, in my opinion 3 days in Seokcho might be too much, but if you still decide to spend 3 days there maybe you can look for something to do on the Korea Tourism Organization Website ( http://www.visitkorea.or.kr)

For things to do in Seokcho: http://english.visitkorea.or.kr/enu/SI/SI_EN_3_1_1_1.jsp?areaCode=32,5

I think it might still be hot when you come, so going to the beach which is clean and beutiful is a good idea.

Then maybe you can go to Seorak Park, which I've heard is beautiful (I think they even have a buddhist temple there).

Well, I hope this was useful!
