Hello,

Does anyone have suggestions of what to do in S Korea for 9/10 days, flying in and out of Seoul, bearing in mind the mean temperature is 0 Celsius?!

I would like to see enough of Seoul(food and night life), but not sure what else to do. I'm 25 yo male, travelling alone with a budget of $60-$80 a day.

Thanks,

$60-80 a day is a solid budget. Food is cheap and eating out all 3 meals you can spend anything from $15-35 on food. It'll cost you about $1 per subway ride which leaves a large margin for extra activities!
Check out Hongdae & Gangnam at night. Personally I like Hongdae better and find it is more affordable. Hongik Playground is always fun! Itaewon is popular with foreigners but more for those who are homesick than the visiting tourist.

Hiking is always a fun/free activity but it'll be cold & icy when you are here. I still recommend Bukhansan any day of the year. You can opt for Namsan which has a paid cable car if you don't wanna take the hour to hike it (you end up waiting an hour for the car anyway most of the time) Its got a great view at night so I recommend going at dusk.

The palaces provide fun & cheap entertainment but they can get a little redundant. I recommend Doeksugung (only 1-2 hours needed), Gyeongbukgung (the big one) and Changdeokgung (do the secret garden!)

There used to be a tourist bus route around the city, a circular one; it stops at a lot of interesting laces form markets, towers and museums, to more modern things.

Maybe a daytrip to Everland or a couple of day in Busan?
