Hi everybody,

I'm a 25 years old guy who is about to visit Mongolia for some weeks (during august).

Time ago I read somewhere about the orphans of Ulan Bator, who live underground because of the cold winter. Where can I find informations about them (articles, NGO helping them, etc...)?

I wish to engage one of them as a guide, so that I can help him. Do you think is a good idea? Will I able to find someone of them who speaks english (at least a little bit)? And where do they usually stay in…

I will be applying for the standard 30 days tourist visa. On my current itinerary I land in Ub on a Sunday. Does anybody know if I can do this on arrival at the International Airport in Ub OR do I have to wait and go to t appropriate Immigration Office when it is open on the Monday?

Hi,

I've had a look at the 7 Days in Mongolia thread and there was a post from Velocista that sounds an excellent way to spend some time away from arriving in UB.

"My suggestion is, go to Arkhangai and spend a couple of days in the hot springs (near Tsetserleg), then move to the White Lake and vulcan area. Go ride, trekking and family staying for another couple of days, and then go back to UB via Amarbayasgalant. Otherwise you'll be all day on the road. "

Does anyone have any more information…

Hi there

Does anyone know if it's possible in the UK to make Mongolian visa applications by post? The websiteof the London Mongolian Embassy just says:

"For Tourist or Business Visas for 30 day or less it is required to submit in person following documentation:"

http://www.embassyofmongolia.co.uk/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&id=35&Itemid=54&lang=en

I can't really see any info. to the contrary, so does it have to be done in person - or can I go the postal route?

Any advice…

Hello:
i'm planning on doing the north and central loop (Lake Khovsgol, Arkhangai, Kharkorin, Kustain) in september, hopefully with a few days of horse trek in one of the national parks. from reading the other posts it seems like most people head to Mongolia during the summer months. does anyone know how difficult it would be to arrange for a shared jeep for these trips in september? also, how cold does it get in the north around this time of the year?
thanks for any info!

Hi everyone,

I'm planning a trip hopefully for August on the trans-mongolian stopping off at Ulan bator to spend some time in Mongolia and then onto Japan. We'd like to get to Japan by boat from Vladivostok, avoiding China until our return westwards...As far as I can tell there's no direct train linking the two, would we have to travel back to Ulan ude and get onto the trans-siberian to Valdivostok or is there some other way?
