I'm looking for a guided (private) day tour in Ulaanbaatar. All that I could find on the web is way too expensive, ranging from 120$ to close to 300$ (!) for one person.

I assume there are some cheaper possibilities... any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, All

Please give me some advice.

I am planning go to visit my wife in Olgii. I will go to Ulann Baatan by next month. I know there is a flight from Ulan Baata to Olgii.
Also there is some driver can drive the car from Ulann Baatan to Olgii.

Anyone know about how much cost the air ticket from Ulann Baatan to Olgii ? I am not Mongolia Citizen. People said if you are not Mongolia Citizen, you have to pay a lot of money for air ticket, is it true?

If I would like to hire someone to drive…

Hi,

Just to make sure as I heard some contradicting opinions - the eagle festival this year will be held on the 2-3 October or the week after?

Thanks

Hi

I've limited time, and wondered if anyone knew of possible day long or overnight trips/tours from either Sainshand or Choir? Most tours seem to depart from UlaanBaatar, and as i'm going south/north by train, don't want to go back on myself.

Is it possible to hire a jeep driver for a day maybe as another option?

I'll be by myself, and am not particularly wealthy. I'm mostly interested in the isolation of the Gobi desert and photographic (i'm an amateur) possibilities.

Thanks for any…

Dear all,

We (2 pers) are now in Almaty and travel to China and Mongolia later and face a choice:
-Or we continue untill Beijing, then hop on the train to UB and do a 2 week jeep trek through the Gobi, which will be first 2 weeks of november.
-Or we break China in 2, fly from Xi'an to UB and back (1000euro) and do the Gobi trek / Big Loop of LP first 2 weeks of october (thus avoiding the chinese independence week).

My questions:
-Is the Big Loop tour in the LP still feasable in early…

In July 2011 we, a small group of four, enjoyed a wonderful trekking trip in the Altai Mountains of Mongolia, which was made possible by Dosjan (dosjan@yahoo.com) from KTS (Kazakhtours), whom we highly recommend to other tourists travelling in this area.

Already in the months before the trip Dosjan provided us with useful information via email and answered all our questions. We also highly appreciated the fact that he was able to organize a tour custom tailored to our individual wishes as well…

Hey!
Im in Beijing, just got back from Mongolia.

Sold all my equipment except for the mattress.
If anyone is in Beijing and heading to Mongolia, I strongly recommend getting all your stuff here!
Despite what the LP guide says, you cant get much camping gear for cheap in the black market. Only stoves and cooking stuff.
SOOOO ... if anyone needs a mat, im selling mine.
Its Montis, was brand new before my trip. Used it for one week, so 7 times. Its about 1 kg or less, so very light weight. it…

Hi guys. While waiting patiently in Thailand for my stay on the Mongolian blacklist to expire I'm passing the time by putting together a little Mongolian wiki-style thing for the first time visitor, and if you can spare a minute I'd like a little input.

Travel Tips for Mongolia - very much a work in progress.

If you've been to Mongolia, what information would you have liked to have before you arrived? Where did you stay? What did you do? What did you like and dislike?

If you're planning…
