Hi!

I am looking into going to Mongolia in the spring and trying to plan a route - I'm going from south east asia (thailand to philippeans) to Mongolia, and then want to get to Hungary.

I was wondering if anyone can recommend good flight routes, for example, would flying out of KL in Malasyia be the best option to get to the Ulaan Batar? And is it better to go to Beijing to fly to Hungary, or London then Hungary?

I'd appreciate any ideas for cheaper routes!!
Thanks a lot!

Hi, I´m planning to make a trip to Mongolia for next year and was wondering if any of you have obtained your tourist visa in Seoul. Have checked their webpage but they don´t make any reference whether as a non-korean and non resident of Korea it´s possible to get a visa for Mongolia with them, has some of you got your visa there and how much it costs as the webpage don´t mention it either?? Thanks in advance!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi,

We are planning to visit Mongolia mid August, arriving in Ulan Bator with the Mongolia Express.

We would like to see the countryside as well as the following places:
- Gandau Monestry
- Terelj National Park
- Erdene Zuu Khiid
- Ghobi Dessert (Sand Dunes)

We are trying to travel on a budget of $50 p.p.p.n. and planning to stay 3 (maybe 4 weeks) in Mongolia. We are wondering what the best way is for travelling around in Mongolia (given the above)? And if it is necessary/advisable to arrange…

I will be traveling via train from Moscow to Mongolia at the end of September. My first destination in Mongolia will be Moron in the north. Does anyone know if it is possible to cross the border traveling from Irkutsk to Moron, rather than traveling all the way to UB and taking an expensive flight?

Or, is anybody planning to travel from UB to Moron during the first week of October who would like to split the cost of traveling by car?

Hello!

I'll be traveling to Mongolia at the end of September and plan to stay there through mid October. I'll be arriving by rail from Beijing. After some sightseeing with a friend, the idea is to bounce overland through Western China down to Nepal.

Note: This whole affair is admittedly being planned last-minute. Be that as it may...

A couple of questions for anyone with knowledge of the region:

1) Is it possible to stay on a ger in Mongolia that is NOT built for (or populated mostly by)…

Here's somewhat of a naive question.

My girlfriend and I are going to go to Korea to visit her family. When we're there, we're thinking of doing a little of traveling within Asia. She's always wanted to go to Mongolia, but I have the feeling that there is no experience we could have in Mongolia that we couldn't have in China for much cheaper.

I'd be very happy for someone to tell me how wrong I am!

Hi everyone,

I just went from Ulaanbaatar (Mongolia) to Beijing (China) for about 65USD (and 2 days of my time) and here's how I did it:

-I booked 1 day in advance for a soft sleeper train ticket at UB for 28500 (22usd) mongolian tugruk, the 4.30pm express train going from UB to Zamin-Udd (note that there is a slower train leaving UB at 8pm as well)

-I arrived at Zamin-Udd at 7am the next day and got the jeep across the border, note that you have to pay 3500 mongolian tugruk as the departure…

Hello travelers,

A month ago we spent three weeks in Mongolia, as part of a round the world trip. Here are 45 pictures of our train ride from China, Naadam in Mogod and the Gobi desert. We hope you like them:
