what to do with belongings on a yurt tour?

It is considered safe to leave your belongings, including your computer, at your hotel or guesthouse in UB, during your short countryside trip.

Some of the more fancy tourist ger (yurt) camps, have electricity outlets, at least in the central ger/building, so you can bring your computer along with you.

Although the gers are not large there is always space for a backpack. Most tourist visit gers with their backpacks.

Enjoy a warm ger hospitality.

no reason for the computer while out there. There are several hostels in Ulaanbaatar that will store bags. UB Guesthouse stored one for me in 2007 and Natural Guesthouse did in 2009. It was a couple dollars a day and that was that. There are also lockers you can get for smaller items and you can use them when you are NOT staying in the hostel, provided you are on a tour scheduled by the hostel.

End of the day, you should have several options. No need to take that much stuff out there. It is a gorgeous and amazing country full of friendly people and amazing experiences. Have a great time.

Thanks for the helpful advice. Yeah, I'd prefer not to be lugging a computer around at all, but there isn't much I can do about that now.

You might want to stay at the Mirage Ger Camp in Terelj in February as it was the only one that had hot showers in 2007. Winters in Mongolia are brutal. There are public buses to Terelj from UB & it cost me about a dollar each way. Or you can hire your own private jeep for $40 to 60 USD. Open Tour Around Mongolia (OTAM) were great. If you have the full 30 day visa & the time, Lake Hovsgol, Great White Lake & the South Gobi trip of about 7 days each are highly recommended.

Some experienced travellers have own secure hook locker, so you can lock your Ger with your locker and have peace in mind.
Normally ger camp staff look after the clients belongings.
