Hello-

I will be in Mongolia doing a community development project for most of June. I am planning to stick around after the group leaves on June 27th through the Naadam holiday. Is there anyone else out there looking to travel to the Gobi in the beginning of July? I'm very interested in seeing Kharkorum and other sites south of UB.

Kharakhorum is not really worth to stay over night in summer, it takes 2-3 hours to explore.
There is n't much related to the ancient capital city in 13th century. The old monastery is ok which built in 16th century.
And there is huge un attractive soviet built village! If you are looking for any remains from 13th century, it is not the place, more stuff related to Buddhist religous mesuem, and 20th century soviet story in Mongolia.

Hello Touringdaisy (or anyone else listening),

I will also be in Mongolia with one friend during the first 2 weeks of July. We are trying to arrange a quick trip Khongoryn Els in the Gobi before Naadam. Planning has been harder than we anticipated. Domestic flight schedules not certain, and tour agencies are very expensive. So we are now wondering about flying to Dalanzadgad and finding a ride. Anyway if you'd like to compare notes or have advice about planning a Gobi trip please send me a private message.

Thanks.
