Hi guys. looking through the guidebooks and web sites am quite confused as to which days the trains depart from beijing to UB. i know the Trans Sib leaves on Weds but which day does the other direct train go? some places say Tues others Thurs and even Sat.
How much hassleis is it to get the local trains changing at the border?Do those trains run daily?

It looks like K23 departs Beijing for UB on Tuesdays.

Trains do NOT run daily.
From Beijing there are only two trains at this time of year, the #3 and the K23.
In June the schedule often changes and generally by the end of the month it is twice a month on Tuesday and Saturday.
There are daily buses from Beijing to Erlian overnight.
There are daily passenger trains in the late afternoon from Dzamin uud on the Mongolian side.
There are express trains in the evening from Dzamin uud 4-5 times a week. This is the once a week #3 train, the K23 train and the international train from Hohhot which departs there twice a week on Mondays and Fridays.
