Hi Karen
10 hours
In a real rush, a good driver, with no passengers bumping up and down in the back seat, on a dry day.
16 hours
In a rush, with consideration to back seat passengers, and some rain to slow you down.
2 days
The typical tourist tour on a "I want to see everything in 21 days".
4-5 days
Easy going, spending leisure time in some of the most beautiful locations.
See this map of possible routes and some of the typical locations to visit on the way.
The locations of the pins on the map are accurate, zoom in on satellite mode to see details.
White lake
There are many lakes named white lake. I assume you mean Khorgo Terkhiin, Tsagaan Nuur (=white lake),
as seen on this wonderful photo .
Calculating time
To calculate time on the road you can measure the distance and assume an average of 20km per hour in the mountains, and about 35km per hour in the desert.
Most roads are dirt roads, river crossings are slow, and after the rain the mud slows you down.
Enjoy the countryside.

Thanks Dan
It will actually be as part of a Khongor tour next week and yes it is the White Lake you were thinking of. Khongor's intinerary seems to go from Orkhon waterfall to White Lake in one day's journey. Sounds like a lot of travelling to me.
Is Orkhon waterfall worth seeing at this time of year? Some say it is (on the basis that the area is nice anyway) and some say it isn't.
