Hello all,
I'll be doing a rather extensive round the world tour this coming summer and the visa deadlines are coming fast. I know I can get a Mongolian visa in Beijing and have the address and whatnot, but I was wondering what the payment process is like?

Here in Canada we have to submit a certified cheque or bank draft and I don't know if I can communicate well enough in China to get that through.
Oh, we're Canadian by the way.

Payment is in yuan and cost depends upon the processing time.

One thing, several people indicated last summer that it was necessary to have a letter of introduction from a travel agency or guesthouse to obtain a Mongolian visa in Beijing. Previous to last summer this was not required. It didn't seem to matter their passport and it seems to be increasingly required.

Pay cash when you hand in your application.

Hi a previous poster has said this
"when paying for your visas, you can't do it at the Mongolian Embassy - they give you a receipt, and you head to the local Bank of China (there is a map at the Mongolian Embassy, it's in the same building as McDonald's) - it's about a 5minute walk, not too hard. When walking into the bank, just show the staff your receipt, they'll point out where to go. There is a 10 RMB commission per person. "
This was valid in August 07.
Costs as on the website range from 270 RMB 10RMB for normal 5 day service to 495RMB 10RMB for same day service Open 9am-11am Mon -Fri. I think same day pick up is 4pm?
Hope this is useful

Oh, oops. I just had a peek at my girlfriend's passport, and her Mongolian visa was free, so sorry about giving you the wrong info. I had assumed she paid for it.
