Hi,

Has anyone ever managed to book a domestic Mongolian train ticket on urtu.net? If yes, how? The website is kinda retarded: it took me multiple contortions just to get a quote for train 276 (Ulan-Bator --> Zamyn-Uud) and all my attempts at registration have failed, hence I have been unable to book.... Any tips would be welcome.

Cheers,

I can't recall any reports of success on this website. You might send a PM to TT user tomongolia as Dan might have some experience with this.

Hi

Ruth is correct, the online booking system is not really working for individual tourists.
It is a good source of updated information on time tables and cost.
In any case you can not book a long time in advance.

You have 2 options -
1. Ask a local tour agent to book for you, the tickets will wait for you at their office.
2. Book personally 1-3 days in advance at the station when you get there.

When ever possible, I recommend the second option. If your visit is not at the peak season (Naadam) there should be no problem booking a few days in advance.

There is a 276 trains every day at 16:30 and an additional weekend train on Thursdays and Sundays at 20:00
