I was in the west of Mongolia in the Altai region 3 years ago and had hired a driver/guide in Ulgii who took me into the mountains for a few weeks. His name is Japar and he has a silver Russian van(or did at this time). I have pictures I promised to send to him so he could deliver to the folks I met, but his email address no longer works.
This is a long shot, but if anyone ends up in Ulgii and happens to meet Japar, I would be eternally grateful if you passed along my email address to him!
