Hello All,

I'am in the process of developing a Travel Blogging site by the name of Kettik . The name Kettik, meaning 'Lets Go' was chosen by me when i came across it in the book 'Eagle Dreams' by Stephen J. Bodi. I liked the name and its meaning so much that i immediately decided to use it for my site.

Now my question is... Is 'Kettik' from the Mongolian or Kazhak language ? In the book its not clear, and since they were traveling in the Bayan Olgii region which has a mix of Kazhak and Mongolian population it could be from either language. So any pointers would be very helpful and i can finally complete the 'About us' section of my website :)

Many Thanks,
Sarav

Hi

This is a Kazakh term, though used by Kazakh's eagle hunters in Mongolia, as mentioned by Stephen J. Bodio in his book.

Ket means Go+ and Ketaik means +Lets-Go.

Howdy, I just finished a long horse trek in the Altai Mountains with Zavkhan Trekking. All of our wranglers were Kazakh and we used this term to start-up every morning and after every rest stop. So it's the common idiomatic phrase for horsemen, too. "Let's Go!" " Saddle-up!" , etc. would all be good transliterations.

Happy Trails,

Steve
