8-9 Days in Mongolia - need to join a group - End of July 2010

Hello people,

We are a couple and we'll be traveling with the transiberian from Moscow to irkutsk and then to Ulan Batar. In Mongolia we would like to join a tour with others travelers, in order to cut down costs. We are young people and want to do this tour in a "backpack" style :) Any advice?

We are looking for a 8-9 days tour and want to know if here are any travelers who will be in Mongolia for a tour in late July 2010 or beginning of August.

I've contacted some agencies, but no reply yet.

Taking backpack style tour is very interesting and have a fun with other tourists for me. In order to join in a tour or group you may need to ask from hostels or guesthouses where tourists crowded. Tour from agency is more expensive than guesthouse's offered. Try contacting travelbuddiesandtours@yahoo.com they run well-appointed guesthouse and good at making arrangement for joining in a group.

January and February are slow travel times in Mongolia so it many take vacation or close their guest houses. As July is still a ways off, I would give them some time to respond. Also it would be helpful to know whom you have already contacted.

Thanks for answering!

In the meantime I've received a reply from a guest house (golden gobi) - and they told me that in July and august there will be many travelers so it's possible to join a tour, but nothing for sure.

I've contacted also travelbuddiesandtours@yahoo.com and I'm waiting for them to reply also.

Contacting to hostels would probably the best idea to finding travel companions. End of July to August would be the highest season, so then there will not be any problem to finding travel companions during that time of year.
