As I saw the beautiful scenery from the train window on the road to Ulaanbaatar, I've decided to stay here a little bit longer.

Can you, please, recommend me any good (and preferably not too expensive, max $50 a day) trip out of Ulaanbaatar for 3 days or 4 days max? (Including departure and arrival days, so basically 2 to 3 nights).

In the hostel I'm now, there are some people thinking about going to "Semi-Gobi" somewhere near Ondershiret, and other people talking about a longer (and more expensive) trip to "8 Lakes / Waterfalls" somewhere further west.
But I have no other info and want to leave for a trip now or in a few days. I don't really NEED any horses, camels or other stuff like this, I just want to see the Mongolian real scenery. But I'm not saying "no" to any bonus attractions.

Thank you!

A tour that's cheap, good, fast (i.e. quickly arranged)? Unfortunately, when it comes to travel in Mongolia, we only get 2 out of 3.

For $50 a day I think you'd have to join an existing group of at least 5 people; if you do an instant tour to suit your schedule the guide and driver alone would cost at least $80 a day.

A possibility is to take a bus out to Terelj -- bring your own food and stay in a ger camp or do some camping (in a tent). It's beautiful out there and fairly near to UB. There's lots of info on LP about going to Terelj, just do a search.
