So I stepped on a nail today. It went right through my shoe. The wound I took care of myself. It's not that bad. I do need to get a tetanus booster though. I tried a local hospital but they didn't speak english and google translate only goes so far. I'll be back in Tokyo tomorrow. Can someone recommend a place where I can get a tetanus shot within the next day? I tried googling up some clinics and many are apt only. I'll be giving another hospital a go. I'm thinking about the Tokyo University…

Hi all!

I am going to backpack for the first time in my entire life, next autumn. I have decided to end my journey in Japan, I will land in Osaka, and stay for around a month of time. They journey will end in Tokyo where I will fly home.

While I want to see the big cities Osaka, Kyoto and Tokyo for a couple days, I am mostly interested in the authentic japanese culture. However, I don't know which countrysides or non tourist spots that are worth visiting, I was hoping you could help me here.

I have 21 days to travel after I finish up a job in Australia. I need to meet my sister in Japan, but before then I will have 10 days. I wasn't sure if I should split the time and see both Japan and Vietnam (I've always wanted to go). Or, if I should spend the whole time in Japan to see more of the country and have more of a flexible and leisurely travel itinerary. Any thoughts on this? I will be traveling from December 1st to the 21st.

Any input is very helpful- I'm really stuck on this one!

Hi - we have travelled from Australia as a family of 5 through the USA, Thailand, Italy, UK, Mexico and Switzerland and always stayed in high end hotels in interconnecting rooms. I am having a lot of trouble finding something comparable in Japan for April next year. I've always experienced most international 5 star hotels with relatively similar pricing (exchange rates aside) throughout the world, but Japan equivalents seem exorbitant by comparison. Am I misreading things or is this the…

Just a heads up for those of you who are going to be in Japan in the next couple of months. The Kyoto National Museum is holding a special exhibition of National Treasures from October 3 until November 26. Over 200 National Treasures from across Japan are going to be on display, in a special anniversary exhibition for the museum. As they put it, this is a "once-in-a-lifetime" opportunity to see this many National Treasures on display at the same time, the first time in over 40 years that there…

Hi,

I am travelling to Japan (5th oct-14th oct). This would be first three days in tokyo- two days in Mt Fuji, next three days in Kyoto and back to Tokyo. My arrival and return flights are from Narita, Tokyo.

Would buying the seven day pass (activation on fourth day) be a good decision, or buying individuals tickets for bus and train would be economical?
Also, is the Tokyo day pass worth a buy?

Anyone with details on which line and stations/ routes- for Tokyo- Mt Fuji- Kyoto-Tokyo.. Is there…

Hey
,

I'm an 18 year old girl planning to go to Tokyo this winter and staying there for 6 months studying Japanese at a language school. I am aware that the legal drinking age is 20 in Japan, but I've read on many forums and such that in Japan they are quite lax with enforcing this law and it is very easy to obtain alcohol and get into bars and izakaya as a minor and that carding is virtually ''non-existent'' there (with the exception of clubs).
Most people stressed that it is really easy to…

Hi there,

I have 1 night after Koyasan before heading to Tokyo (in November). I will leave Koyasan at about 10-12:00.

I originally had an overnight stay planned in an onsen in Hakone region (to do the onsen expierience). But it is a long way from Koyasan to HAKONE (but eaither way on my way to Tokyo) , but got the impression the Hakone Ryokans were a long way from the train line ?

Now I figure it out that maybe the ARIMA onsen would be a better idea to the 1 night onsen expierience stay ?
So…
