Hi,

Looking at my travel plans for next month, I have the idea of spending a pair of relaxing days in the countryside between Tokyo and Kyoto, I've discovered a serious inconvenient with shivers running for backbone. Necessarily, that days will be a weekend. A mistake by my part. I'm flexible in my destination. I had thought in the five lakes at the feet of Fuji. I'm afraid, it will be too crowded.
I'm open to suggestions which don't involve too many extra kilometres, of hours of transport, in…

Some months ago, in this forum, I was advised to have a look at these documentaries of the public japanese television. From then, I tend to finish my day watching one in you tube. The presenter Peter Barakan is perfect for this production. Unluckily, in one season, ( Japanology Plus ) some evil people decided to add an extra presenter very different than Mr Barakan, a kind of clown. I hate that character.
Japanology has open to me new perspectives abou the culture of Japan.

Hi,

I am travelling between 4th october and 14th october to japan.. covering tokyo in the first half and kyoto in the second. How likely is it to see autumn leaves during my travel period. If not, wil a day trip to nikko ( which according to forecasts will have autumn early october) help?
Any other place suggestions, which can be done in a day trip from tokyo or kyoto for autumn viewing in this period will also be helpful.

Thanks

I was wondering if there is any (reported) drop in the number of foreign tourists going to Japan as a result of the situation in N Korea.

Sometimes these sort of situations cause tourist numbers to plummet - other times they are ignored.

I've booked my ticket departing Japan from Tokyo Narita as I found a cheap seat.
I've found another very cheap ticket arriving in Osaka.
I have 7 days to spend. I've been to Japan before and have been to most of the "must sees"
the likes of: Hiroshima, Kyoto, Nara, Osaka, Tokyo, Nikko, Matsumoto, Kanazawa, Takayama to name a few.
I'm looking to go to a few nice onsens, some small, mid sized cities/towns and so some hiking (nothing too serious just a walk in some hills hoping to stumble upon a…

Hello, everyone, I am planning a trip to Tokyo in 2018, but I only want to go for a short amount of time, so maybe a week including two days of traveling? I'm not sure if it's long enough, though. I am traveling from Ireland and I would like to explore Tokyo and see what the city is like, and see what's there to do there and see what the culture is like.

The reason being that in 2019, my family and I plan to go to Japan for at least two-three weeks, and explore Kyoto, Nara, Osaka and Hiroshima…

Hi,

Closing my plans for the next Japan trip, I've realized my holidays time is more limited that I had though, lot of places. So, I've decided to, after Hokkaido to go directly to Tokyo in one day, departing from Hakodate. Usually I like ferries. Probably is more scenic than the Seikan tunnel. The idea is to take the boat to Aomori. One there, it looks the railway station is only some hundred of meters far. There, I'd take the next bullet train to Shinjuku. By the way, the only bullet train…

Hi all, My sister & myself (in our late 50's) are spending Christmas in Tokyo this year. Can anybody suggest a wonderful place to have Christmas day lunch or dinner. We are staying in Ginza but anywhere in Tokyo would be considered.
