My girlfriend and i have always wanted to visit Japan. We have not been able to make time for a big trip yet, but we are tired of waiting, so want to go for a long weekend, first introduction to Japan. According to travel guides (Footprint and LP) the ferry schedule drops from daily service to "less frequent" after the summer, but I cannot find a winter timetable anywhere (I don't read Japanese). Does anybody know either how often the ferry goes during the colder months or where I could find a year round timetable (Hachijo-Jima is not listed among the ferries on the Japan…

Is it possible to travel from Tokyo to Hakone, check out the views of Mt Fuji for a couple of hours and the head off to Hiroshima or Kyoto and arrive at a reasonable time. I am trying to get the most out of my Japan Rail Pass. Thanks in advance.

I'm gonna be spending two nights at Kanazawa next August 30th. I was planning on spending one day at the city, and the next take a bus down to Shirakawa-go valley for a full day round trip. On my lonely planet guide it says the bus from Kanazawa (Nohi Bus) takes about 3 hours and a half to reach Ogimachi, but I've found a website in which it says the trip takes just 75 minutes using the same Nohi Bus. Can anyone tell me which one is right?

Hi guys, haven't been on the website since our trip to India 3 years ago.

Am going to Japan to see my long lost Brother, and am arriving in Osaka, spending a couple of nights around that area as I hear it's beautiful, then up to Tokyo. I am going to be in Japan for around 12 days. Should I get a JR rail ticket to use immediately? My husband and I are going to Japan in October for about 17 days (leaving Australia on 3rd and leaving Osaka on the night of 20th). Restricted by the discount air tickets we bought, arrival and departure city in Japan will have to be both Osaka.

I sort of planning 5 days in Kansai area (Kyoto, Osaka, Kobe...) and another 5 in Tokyo (side trips to Nikko, Mt Fuji...) and use the rest of the time to Hakkaido. Hope this is quite reasonale itinerary

Im a lone traveller heading for Japan on the 12th (for 16 days) and doing my planning now. Im uncertain about what to do but have ideas that i should spend 3 days Toyko, 4 days Kyoto, 2-3 Days Mt Fuji, Peace Memorial Hiroshima 2 days, and after that i was hoping to get some visit some countryside and some places to relax without doing too much sightseeing.

Is there anyplace i should include or remove from my iteniry?

Does anyone know if you can hire (Yen???) bath towels in capsule hotels and do all capsule hotels provide a free locker room for your luggage? (We are planning to stay a night in the 'Sauna and Capsule Well Be' hotel in Nagoya in 3 days time.
