This is a bit of a long shot, but...
I'm planning a trip to western Shimane, and parts of Yamaguchi Prefecture. I like Yamaguchi Prefecture a lot, I might try and fit in two trips. Looking for ideas of interesting places to visit, and what there is to see:
Shimane - I'd like to visit the region west of Iwami Ginzan, which I've never been to at all. What's out there? Are any sections of the coast particularly beautiful? Anything to see in Hamada and Masuda? The only known attraction in this region is Tsuwano. Any particular views on what not to miss there?
Yamaguchi City and Hagi - I'd like to revisit these places, both of which I've been to before. I probably know what I want to see in both, but am willing to hear opinions.
Karst - Other than driving around the karst for awhile and visiting the famous cave, is there anything else to do in that corner of the prefecture?
Coastal Yamaguchi - This region interests me a lot. I've been to Shimonoseki and Hofu before, but nowhere else along the coast. What is particularly fun and interesting there? How about Iwakuni? The bridge doesn't interest me much, but I believe there's other stuff of note in town?
Many thanks for any tips on this region at all! Particularly interested in hearing about western Shimane, since it seems like one of the least visited corners of the country, and I really don't know much about what there is to see out there.
