hi, i will be arriving narita airport at 4pm on the 3rd of August. i don't have a guide book yet (they don't sell them here in northern Minnesota). i was wondering does anyone know a nice place to stay in tokyo (sorry i am know it is a huge place) that is easy (read inexpensive) to get to from the airport. i am looking to spend around 2300 yen a night.
cheers,
Dave

Dave,
I know northern Minnesota. You can get guide books through Amazon or just by ordering through any bookstore. You are operating under far too tight a deadline, in my opinion. August is right around the corner. How could you have made such plans without even consulting a guide book?
Start here with the JNTO homepage.
2300 yen a night? Practically impossible unless you find a hostel, and many are even more expensive than that.

can also pretty much buy the LP guidebooks at ANY main airprot youre most likely to pass by, like Minneapolis (I was there some weeks ago and saw them)
also in JPN (like about anyhwere out of that maligned US) here is a pretty good tourist-info, speekee the anglit, and able to do bookings on the spot for you. or try (for that price itsd really HARD work!), the well known hostelbooking sites, like hostelbookers, hostelZ, hostelworld, etc, or ever thought of that magig google?

let me re restate my question, can anyone recommend a hostel (shared room) in Tokyo for around 2300 yen a night?
cheers,
Dave

Hey dave - deep a bit deeper us $50 p/n if your lucky . Tokyo is one of the world,s most expensive cities, donot bother travelling here if you are not prepared to put your hand in your pocket - fact

Tokyo is NOT one of the world's most expensive cities, that was true 15 years ago but not now. However, do you know ANY major city in the first world where you can get overnight accomodation for Y2300 = US$19 a night?
Let's see, London, Paris, Rome, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Sydney, Melbourne, Copenhagen....well, let's go down a level or two in population size...Madison, Wisconsin; Guildford; Reims; Stockholm; Nagoya....you get the idea!
