Hi everybody!
A quick question: does anybody know a nice cheap place to stay in Ebino Kogen? We’re planning to spend two days in Kirishima national park but all the accomodations there seem very pricey …
Thanks in advance and thanks to gaijinjoe and mrlar for their answers to my last topic!

Hi,
I didn't stay there, but did an amazing day walk that took in about 5 volcanoes, and the views were incredible (especially as it had recently snowed).
Also, and it may or may not be relevant to you, but the Lonely Planet's assertion that there is a direct bus to Ebino Kogen from Kagoshima is incorrect...there isn't. It was a case of getting a train, a bus, and then hitch-hiking to Ebino Kogen to the start of the track, walking about 25km, and then getting the train back at night. A long day but definitely doable...
Hope this helps a little...
Rich

Ebinogen camp mura has cabins and is very cheap out of season ie not july,august. In summer its about 6400 for the cheapest cabin - up to 5 people

Hi, I'm the other half of the "ghosts" :)
The website KLB showed us would be rather useful (so thank you!)... too bad we're not able to read japanese ;) (even if I'm getting better at reading Hiragana and Katakana) and it looks like the english section doesn't cover the camp.
Another accomodation we could try, even if it's far from being cheap, is the following:
Ebino Kogen So
Does anyone of you know about it?
It would be very useful for us to know if it's in the right place to have fast and easy access to the park;
matching the poor map on the website with google-earth research seems to reply "yes" to this answer;
but we would prefere a "human" confirmation, maybe from a person who's been there or know about it.
Thank you all again!

didnt stay there either but went on a little trip that included a visit to one of the onsen in the area.
it was on the road up to the ebino kogen at the kagoshima pref side. there are 2 onsen that are run by the same owner. it was truly truly truly a remarkable experience. i have been to many onsen all over the country but rarely was made to feel so relaxed as by this one. my girlfriend was very surprised to see me again after our retreat because the water clearly had had a wonderful effect.
highly recommended!
