hello everyone
i'm finally going to Japan mid April this year :)

i need to choose between Koyasan and Yoshino

i am tempted by the cherry blossoms at Yoshino..
and at the same time by how special everything sounds at Koyasan.

would love to hear you on this :) thank you!

Go to both!

How do you want to compare these two? As you know, to Yoshino you'd go mostly for the cherry blossom, while to Koyasan the main draw is not scenery or temple watching.

If you are going to stay there (in a temple) then Koya is more interesting for me.You can see cherry blossom all over the country....

I think the best time to visit Yoshino is the week after the cherry blossom season ends, when it's still beautiful, and you can have it mostly to yourself... ;-) They're both very different. If I had to pick one, I'd go with Koyasan as well, but Yoshino's a fascinating and beautiful place even without the blossoms.

Thank you so much for the replies!
I land in Osaka on the 18h April. I’ll go straight to Nara, spend a day. The day after I’ll go to Koyasan and spend the night. Then from there to Yoshino and spend the night. Next day to Kyoto for 3 days. Then flying to Okinawa from Kobe for a week.

How does it sound?

How much time will you actually have in Koyasan/Yoshino/Kyoto, not including time on transport?

Any interest in Nara?

Hello again :) thank you for so many helpful answers in the last couple weeks!
I am thinking of 2 days in Nara, then going to Asuka, from there Yoshino, sleep in Asuka again. Next day to Koyasan, sleep there. Next day go to Kyoto, 3 days there.
What do you think of this plan?
Thanks again!
