hey Guys,

We are planning to a trip to Japan in from 17th Nov to 27th November this year. We are concerned if the weather might be too cold for us to do touristy things ? Since this is our first trip ( & the only trip probably ) do you think we should re-consider going in Summer ?

The cities we are roughly planning to go to is Tokya & Kyoto ( to begin with )

Thanks in advance.

Impossible to predict weather exactly, but there shouldn't be anything that stops you from doing stuff in those cities.

Temperatures somewhere around 10° minimum,17°max.Some rain,some sun...

You can see temperature patterns on Wikipedia.

Apart from climbing Fuji, you can do most touristy things in the Tokyo and Kyoto areas in November. It might be a bit chilly, it might rain, but you can still do what you like really.

Summers in Japan are very hot and humid. Weatherwise, the best time to be in the country is now, or May.

November is autumn foliage time in Tokyo/Kyoto and places thereabout. Great time to be in Japan IMO. Certainly better than going in summer which is just awful (hot/humid).

You probably want to pack a jumper/sweater/jacket but apart from the highest mountains you can do anything you want in November. Make sure to book accommodation now for Kyoto.

The weather in November is fine. The days are warm (cool if it's cloudy or raining) and the evenings cool. Bring light jackets and sweaters, but really, it's a nice time to visit. I hope you've already booked your hotels, there will be very little options left at this late stage.

The year "severe coldness to the trees which leaves turn red will not come "several times", you cannot see beautuful Autumn leaves in that year(sometimes it's dirty unhappily!).

These phenomenon is due to chemical reactions of trees & leaves in coldness and it's the same to trees at any places(cities, towns and mountain areas) for changing color just before winter comes.

So Autumn leaves very much depends on low temperature & coldness as bove but even in institutions and organizations specializing weather forecating the time of Autumn leaves and color (also in Sakura season, the same) very often remove the expected time & color because they cannot forecast them with pinpoint at each place in each year .

So you have no choice but going there with great expecting for seeing beautiful Autumn leaves "from 17th Nov to 27th November"--- it's the best time to visit Kyoto etc, but seeing beautiful Autumn leaves, it may feel coldness when you visit temples (& shrines) in rainy days and at night(light up show) or visiting temples near the mountains , preparing walm clothings is needed.
