Although typically minor, JR changes schedules pretty much every month. And occasionally, they have big changes, such as in March of most years and during the holidays. The only way to really keep up with the schedule changes is to get the big monthly timetable book that is released by JR and JTB.
I would not be all that concerned about it, though, unless you are planning to travel in some remote areas where missing a train can ruin your day (because the next one is not coming for another four hours).
