Hello,

I usually just use the regualr skype, but this is what I remember from using my friends Canadian skype phone number.

If you have just regular skype you cannot call phone numbers, only computer to computer, if the other person has skype. Search for them using thier email.

If you have purchased an Australian phone number than when you go to make a call you should see a phone pad.
Above that pad should be some options of countries - choose Australia.
Then you should be able to dial the number as usual. (Perhaps this is irrelevant as you will be calling from an Australian number in the first place. Can:t hurt though..)

For reference though, Australia:s country code is 61
Japan is 81

Hope this is slightly helpful! Good luck!

Thanks I have bought SKYPE credit for outward calls. I believe i will be able to call any country in the world for peanuts . they only allow you to buy $16 worth of credit at a time so i am hoping will be able to keep in contact with the family. I have jst been through CHINA and used my mobile. The chinese mobile companies really sting you.

I call New Zealand regularly using Skype out. Once you have the credit, click "call ordinary phones" then you should see a keypad with "Select country or region". Selecting Australia should give you the country code 61. Then it asks you to type the number in Australia. Start with the area code minus the first 0, then the home number. Should be quite simple- are you seeing something different on your Skype account?

The credit lasts quite a long time unless you call someone's mobile phone at home in which case it costs a lot more.
