Hi

Are taxis easily available to move around WITHIN Hakone? Can they be flagged off the street or are they available only at specific locations/stands?

Rgds

You mean to move around the whole area?

Its very large and will cost you a fortune ;-)But its possible. You will find taxis outside the larger train stations, like Odawara and Hakone Yumoto.

There are plenty of taxis in the area. Most taxis are concentrated around the Hakone Yumoto area, but the bus system is incredibly reliable and convenient. Hotels can call a taxi for you. Make sure you get the economic and easy to use Hakone Freepass as well. Lots of info on their site. www.hakone-japan.com
