Hey everyone! My husband and I will be traveling to Japan with my 14mo son and mother in tow at the end of October. Our itinerary looks like this:

Oct 30-Nov 4 Tokyo
Nov 4-12 Kyoto (day trips to Osaka, Kobe, Nara, Mt Fuji maybe??)
Nov 12-14 back to Tokyo for the Sumo Tournament, anything we missed...more ramen, etc.

Basically I am reaching out to see if other families are nuts like us and what you did with a 14mo. He's not walking yet and I doubt he will be by then so I basically tote him around in a baby carrier/umbrella stroller. Was there any fun experiences you have come across; anything unexpectedly fun he would like that you didn't realize, anything terrible or very baby-unfriendly? My son eats everything but I heard baby food in Japan is tricky; should I plan on bringing a lot from home? Diapers as well? Any hidden gems or epic fails?? We've traveled extensively and even brought him to Italy with us at 7mo but I am nervous!

I can't help you on the baby stuff.

On the itinerary,Mt Fuji is very far from Kyoto. If you want to go there, either from Tokyo or you could stop on the way to or from Kyoto.

It's quite possible you will see little or nothing of the mountain,as its often covered in cloud.
