Hi
I'm off to Tokyo in October and went to come back via Beijing or Shanghai. but all the airfares I can find one way are expensive. any suggestions?

Thanks for that. I looked at the ferry but the length of time it takes and the timetable preclude it. Sad as I would have enjoyed it.

yeap, same problem as you... Sorry but I don't think you will find a cheap one-way flight from tokyo to china... Usually the return ticket will cost you less. (however august is high season here) I will go one way to shanghai in 2 days and had to buy a return ticket, 25'000 yen less expensvie than the one-way ticket. If you go to a travel agency, do say that you want to buy a return ticket only for one way, they might not sell it to you. You might look at these english speaking agency in tokyo:
