Hi,

I was planning on travelling round China end of August/beginning of September for 3 weeks. I would like to do Beijing and Shanghai, and I have heard good things about Xi'an but am unsure where else would be great to go or how to plan it (not too fussed with doing Hong Kong this time). Want a selection of culture, history, relax.

Any recommendations?

Hi, just wondering if I could get some advice on some questions please.
I am a University student applying for an X1 visa. These are the following questions on the China Visa Application form which I am stuck on:

1.16: It has options for postgraduate or college, or other.
I am currently in University and have just completed my second year but obviously haven't graduated yet. What would I put for this?

1.17: Employer/school
Would I list my university?
I also am going back to work this summer…

Hello all,

Would love to catch some of the Naadam festivities while visiting Inner Mongolia, but I'm having trouble verifying the actual festival dates for summer 2018. It seems that there are a number of festivities designed for tourists spanning July into September, but can anyone confirm if there is in fact a core/"real" set of festival dates?

Also, I understand that there are massive tourist areas set up in the grasslands around Hohhot. Can anyone speak to whether there is a specific…

Hello, my name is David. I will be going to Beijing China on June 13th, staying for two weeks, I've lived there for 12 years prior to moving to the US so I know the place pretty well, looking for someone who's also going to be in Beijing from anytime between June 13 th to July 1st. Honestly just trying to make friends and have people to hang out with while I'm there aside from spending time with family.

Activities will include: exploring nightlife in Beijing, touristy stuff if that's your…

We are getting married on the first Saturday of October and are spending our honeymoon in China! We’ve got an itinerary set, however would really like your advice / suggestions. It’s our first time in China and we’re really looking forward to it!

We will be arriving on Tuesday 9th of October In Hong Kong, avoiding the Chinese holiday crowds. Furthermore things that we enjoy during our travels are food (especially food markets!), culture, hikes on well-paved paths and enjoying some peaceful…

First of all, I know I sound very naive for asking for travel advice during Golden Week, but here it is anyways. Unfortunately, it looks like I'm bound to this week to travel, the weeks after I have other commitments and cannot easily take time off. I can take some days off after Golden Week, but not too long. And like many, I do want to experience the gorgeous autumn sceneries of Sichuan.

Initially, I considered going deep into Sichuan province to parks like Cuopugou, Dangling or Xinluhai…

Does anybody know if it's possible to get an Indian Tourist visa at the Embassy in Beijing and what the process may entail (Either a UK or NZ passport. My Chinese residents permit is in my NZ passport if that makes a difference).

I realize that there on-line visas are available. But when I went through the process of checking this out a few months ago I got inundated by so much spam e-mail offering to relive my credit card of money that I would rather spend the time going to the embassy region…

Hi, I'm wondering whether to book Frankfurt-Beijing-Seoul (and return) flights with China Air. Comfortable departure times at both ends and a good price. But some - indeed many - of the Air China reviews describe experiences ranging from unpleasant to horrific. So any comments about that are welcome.

What I'd mainly like to ask about is anyone's recent(ish) experiences about transiting at Beijing Capital airport. On the way out we have two hours 30mins transit time; on the return leg, seven…

A few months ago, I posted a comment lamenting the disappearance of food stalls/carts from Beijing streets. It seemed obvious that the Beijing government (At least) had been forcing small-time vendors out of business, rumors abounded that the Chengguan were cracking down on food sellers, large banners had appeared near subway stops exhorting the public to pay extra attention to "fire safety" and there was even word that the smoke from street vendors stoves was being blamed for Beijing's…

Hi Everyone,

We currently have a hotel booked in the Wan Chai area (about a block away from Wan Chai station). We have four nights in Hong Kong and weren't sure if another area would be better to stay in? Spefically the Mong Kok area.
