Hi,

I'm using sidestep to try to buy a ticket from Beijing to Hanoi. China Southern seems to be the choice, but the link I'm taken to is for www.onetravel.com, which has to deliver paper tickets to me. I'm leaving the states Wednesday March 28th (it's late Thursday night, March 22nd). I'm not sure if the tickets will reach me in time. Does anyone have any experience with this, any advice? Can I get an e-ticket on that airline? I'll try a local travel agent tomorrow, but I think that will cost…

Hi,

I'm looking to buy a plane ticket in Beijing, using sidestep. The site indicates there are several airports. Am I right in thinking that the Beijing Capital Airport (PEK) is the major airport?

Thanks,

Chris

Gday All,
Trying to find out if the train still goes all the way from Shanghai to Hong Kong. Have to do this trip next month, and i have seen on adventurechinatrip.com/chinatrains that K99 goes all the way to Hong Kong. Originally i thought i could get to either Guangzhuo or Shenzhen, but if this train does go all of the i might as well catch the train to Hong Kong. Also does it leave daily. I hope to get it on the 17th of April.
Thanks
Matt

Hi everyone, further to my other post here
here

I have decided to give it a go by moving to Shanghai with my husband. We are recently married with no kids.

His company is currently in the heart of the city (Xu hui) but is moving to Pudong at the end of the year.

I have been to Shanghai for a short while (one week) and would prefer to live in Puxi.

1. I don't really know what it's like in either area, since I haven't been there long enough (only there as a tourist) but would like your opinions and…

Just want to double check how many bags can be checked in with Oasis Airline. I am assuming it is just one, which I hear is standard on all Europe-Asia flights. The Oasis website doesn't actually say how many bags are allowed, so just to make sure, does anyone know? Thanks.

Hi.

I'm going to spend a few nights in Beijing, and someone told me about the New Hope Foundation (http://www.hopefosterhome.com). They offer room and board for visitors, and I wonder if anyone has heard of them, or knows anything about that? I'm very interested in the work the foundation does (I'm a social worker) but I'm in China on vacation. I wonder particularly if it's possible to get from their village to Beijing more or less whenever I want, or do I need to pre-arrange rides through them…

My wife and I are planning a 2 week trip to China for the first half of June and the itinerary is proving quite perplexing. We will definitely spend 4, 5 or 6 days in Beijing, but after that, what?? One idea is to then head to Xian, Chengdu and finally Shanghai. Is that too much?? Maybe just Beijing and then the train to Shanghai with a few stops?? We are both interested in the more inland cities (Chengdu) but is that too much to ask for only 2 weeks? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks

So, as I mentioned on another person's thread, three days of our six day trip are Sat/Sun/Easter Mon. My guidebooks have warned that many places of interest are to be avoided at weekends as they are crowded. So I know where best to avoid. So far so good.

So what do we do with those days instead? Does anyone have any great suggestions for uncrowded (or no more crowded than any other day) places to go at the weekend?

Particular things we're planning during our trip - Macau, Lammau, Cheung Chau or…

Hey all,

I was looking at the visa information from the Chinese embassy in the UK and it looks like they are now offering 2 year multi entry visas.

Has anyone successfully got one of these, or even tried and failed? What kind of information / support do they want? is it enough to just say that I'll be travelling in the region for a while and passing through China a number of times? I have no evidence of my plans at all at the moment as I'll be travelling overland from Pakistan (and I'm still in…
