Hello everybody, I have a question about Chinese visa expiration.

I am an Italian citizen, doing the visa application from London where I live. I want to apply for a Chinese tourist visa (type L).

As for my experience, Chinese visa is quite hassle-free, but apparently here in the UK it's not as easy as I thought.

The officially required documents looked the same as the other times I did it. But then when I went to the agency to submit the application, the people there started asking for more…

Hi, We will catch a train from Guangzhou to Yangshuo, but checking on ctrip it says that the ones we want are sold out. However there is something called Standing tickets left. It states 99 for each train. Will there always be an option to buy these when the seats are sold out? So ... no hurry... or will these sell out too? All trains seems to have 99 standing tickets available... so they don't seem to decrease. Appreciate an explanation! :-)

Hi all,

I am gathering information about an upcoming trip to XinJiang, I have these small gaps, if anybody has experience and helps me filling them it would be great:

1) Is there any archaeologic place to visit in Hotan? I know it was the capital of an empire in the past but I don't find anything useful online

2) Any interesting place to buy jade / silk in Hotan? And in other towns in Southern XinJiang? Generally, which are the best items to buy in that region, that would be expensive in…

I have a 16 hour layover in Beijing on my way to from Chicago to Central Asia. Also, I already have a multiple entry tourist L visa to China.

Am I allowed to leave the airport and see Beijing for the day (maybe even sleep at a hostel), or do I have to stay in the terminal because it's a connecting flight (two different airlines though)?

Thanks! Jacob

Aloha knowledgeable travelers!

The plan is to fly through China to get to Nepal. We are US citizens and will hold valid tickets to our destination country (Nepal). Below you will find the likely itinerary. Technically it would seem to fit within the 24 hour limit and therefore not require visas, even if we leave the airport in Kunming for a sleep at a hotel. Is this correct? Do they factor in time zones as this is cutting it close?! I plan to call China Eastern Airlines tomorrow but would be…

Hi all,

Can someone please tell me, if I have a Chinese visa, can I fly into Urumqi with this or will I have trouble with border security. I am looking at a connecting flight from Melbourne that has a quick stopover in chengdu. Is my visa likely to be checked in chengdu or in Urumqi? I'm worried that If I book the flight I'll have trouble with border security once I've arrived.

Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone,

I'm finally going to China for the first time this September for just over three weeks. Never had the money or time before, so I'm very excited I'm finally going. I've put together an itinerary, and would love some opinions/suggestions. As it's my first trip to China and my Chinese is quite basic, I was planning to not go off the beaten track too much. I'll sure travel to China again, so I'll be a bit more adventurous then.

Day 1: arrival early in the morning
Day 2: Beijing
Day 3…

Hi Thorn Tree,

Could you please tell me the process for applying for a Z Visa from Hong Kong?
Initially, I'm going over on a tourist visa for a few weeks to visit the schools and then, if all goes well, beginning a job in Kunming. Is it possible to do this rather than fly back to the UK and beginning the process there? I've had all the medicals and my certs apostilled etc etc.

Thanks for all of your help!
