I'm visiting Turpan the end of this month on my way to Mongolia. Does anybody know of cool spots to do some wild camping in the mountains or desert around Turpan? For example, if I head out to some surrounding villages would it be possible to head out from there into the valleys or mountains for some camping without being harassed? Any suggestions? ( I have been to Xinjiang before and I know it is extremely hot this time of year!) Thanks in advance.
Hello travellers,
Lonely Planet says that tourists MUST go inside Forbidden City from Meridian Gate(south, in front of the square). But I've read some rapports suggesting to go inside from Nort Gate?, is this possible?, is open or just for exit as the guide says?
Thanks
David
Just about a month and we'll be on our way to China for the first time, and since I've been far too busy with my work recently I feel I haven't been able to prepare for the tekrip as well as I'd like to.
I'm in awe for the sheer size of that country, not to mention the language barrier and the number of people there. I may have some vague ideas in my mind about China and its people, which will probably get squashed the first day we get there.
Trying to learn the language is probably doomed in…
Your June 2017 guide mentions a shuttle but Guiyang Longdongbao's own website doesn't include Kaili in its little list of shuttles.
I'm planning on visiting China (Beijing and Dalian) at the end of August into early September this year to visit a friend. I understand as an American part of the application process for a Chinese visa is showing proof of hotel accommodations or a letter of invitation from a friend you will be staying with the entire trip.
Originally I was going to go with a letter of invitation since I wouldn't have to book a hotel, but I just found out my friends work visa (he's is also american) expires July…

Hi, sorry for another post about something I'm sure is already out there on the internet somewhere, but I need some help! I am visiting Beijing for around 10 days as a tourist.
From the following link - https://www.visaforchina.org/LON_EN/ - I have worked out that a visa for China is a total of £265 per person for a postal application (£175 visa fee and £90 service fee - link below)
Schedule of Fees -

Anyone knows what's the 'baggage allowance' for Beijng-Paris flights with China Eastern ?
(actually the flight just stops to Paris, then i have to take an other flight to Naples, Italy)
I found China Eastern website with Google:
http://en.ceair.com/guide2/xlfw/t2013527_10311.html
it says 23Kg/piece "for Europe, Australia, Japan...etc..."
BUT , when i bought the ticket I remember that i read somewhere that i can bring to pieces of baggage of 23Kg each (so, for a total of 46Kg) but i can't…
Hello. I will briefly be in Hangzhou and (more briefly) Shanghai in late October. I am interested in finding one of the clinics I have heard about where apitherapy (using bee stings/ venom to treat ailments) is practiced. I've no Chinese language of any sort and as such I am also looking to hire a university student or some person to act as a guide/ interpreter for me for a day or two. I am very interested in making advance arrangements with one of the clinics and meeting the beekeepers and…
Hi and thanks for reading.
We have 18 days in China - in September and early October - yes some time around national holiday. Will be me, husband and two kids 4 and 7. Have done a lot of independent travel in our time but this will be pretty adventurous for us with kids.
Fly into Beijing and out of HK.
Just interested in views of the classic itinerary from Beijing via xian, chendu and maybe li river - or if people think shanghai, mountain villages/huangshan then onto Hk is more interesting/better…
