My 18-year-old son and I will be in Beijing for one full day on July 28. I want to find the best (private?) tour for the day. We want to hit the Forbidden City, the Great Wall, and any other must-see, but then would like to be taken to some hidden treasures or interesting off-the-beaten-path wonders. Air conditioned vehicle is an absolute must.

Suggestions on where to start?

Hello, Please can someone give me some advice and answer a couple of questions.
Arriving in Beijing Terminal 3 next week and getting a connecting flight about 17 hours after arrival. I understand that it's possible to check in luggage to the final destination (in China) and not have to collect it and check it in again in Beijing. But is it possible to leave the airport and stay with a relative overnight?
As for meeting points, it should be straightforward if the relative is waiting by the arrivals…

Hi

I've done a few searches but can't find any threads on the Hong Kong Working Holiday Scheme

Here is the official website http://www.immd.gov.hk/eng/services/visas/working_holiday_scheme.html

Does anyone know if you need to apply before you are 30 or before you are 31? Also does anyone know the cost of the visa? I can't find it anywhere on the official website. I'm a British citizen.

Be great to hear from anyone that has applied for this visa

Many thanks

Northern Guizhou usually isn't mentioned in Guidebooks, obviously, this region is not part of the banana pancake trail of minority villages. I wonder, how difficult it would be, to go direct from Chongqing to Zheng'an by public bus. Once there, it shouldn't be so difficult, to find out, how to continue to Wuchuan and afterwards to Fanjingshan. Both Zheng'an and Wuchuan have some nice natural bridges I would like to see, same with Tongren, where there should be a beautiful canyon. Since…

Until now I haven't decided where to go in September, because there are still many places in China, which I would like to see. I usually prefer to travel in regions, when the weather is best or almost best for travelling for the chosen region. Gansu should be good in September, that's why I planned a trip to Gansu.
But now I read, that the website travelchinaguide.com recommends September as the best time for Nujiang valley, they say "September is the best time to visit here, just after the rainy…

I plan to take the cable car up North Mountain, hike to East Mountain, from there to South and then West Mountain and back to the cable car at North Mountain to go back to town. Is this possible and doable in one day? Thanks.

I'm thinking of moving to China to be an ESL teacher for a year or two. I've decided i want a big city but i wonder if there is much difference between the main tier 1 cities. Does anyone have any experience of living as an ESL teacher in these cities? Which would you recommend? Any pros and cons?

Thanks in advance

We are planning to travel from Erlian to Beijing by train (or bus).

We are stopping in Erlian as my boyfriend is a dinosaur geek and so would love the kissing dinosaur border crossing and all the other dino things in the town.

On our journey south to Beijing, is there anywhere notable to stop on that train/bus route? We're not in China for very long as primarily we are going to Beijing to fly home after a month in Mongolia. It would be great to see something more than just the dinosaur town…
