Hey LP readers. We recently completed two weeks in south central China, an amazing area. Here's some tips we wish we'd known before visiting Zhangjiajie:
Cultural norms are slightly different here, so expect lots of noise, spitting, pushing in crowds. Although these are off-putting to westerners, it's just a different culture.
Start early - park opens at 7:30
Weather - was 80/sunny one day, 50/rainy the next, be prepared with the right gear.
Maps - hand drawn, not to scale, with different translations on each one. Study ahead of time.
Crowds - smile and push your way through
Food - pack snacks for the day unless you want to eat McD's or tourist trap noodles.

Cheers!
