Hi all,
I'd appreciate a lot your help answering at any of my doubts written below, since I'm tring to book a Yangtze cruise geared to foreigners from Chongqing to Yichang and I would like to find a not expensive cruise but nice and clean, by the beginning of August.
I read that we could find better prices if we book one day before or so, but maybe it's a little bit risky since it's the high season.
My questions are:
1- Is there an area where the agencies that sell these cruises are physically located in Chongqing?
2- I think they usually close at 18:00 p.m. Is that correct?
3- Any recommendation about the name of a cruise or an specific agency?

Many many thanks in advance for any help!

I'm not sure you're going to find any last-minute deep discount on a foreigner cruise boat in August busy season, just by waiting until you get to Chongqing and walking up to some office. Not sure what you mean by "not expensive" but there is a practical minimum below which foreigner cruise pricing won't drop--they'd probably rather have an empty berth rather than fill it at too-cheap a price. You might try this China-based agency and see if they can find something in your budget. Even in the category of "foreigner boats" they are not all the same--one of the older ones might be slightly cheaper. https://www.yangtze-river-cruises.com

If you are willing to go more downmarket on a Chinese boat, you can cut your costs significantly even in a first class cabin, but there won't be any concessions with food or language or style on such a boat.

My Chonqing experiences on the Yangtze are that its very busy and very commercial. Once on the boat, it runs like clockwork, bu you need to allow time to walk a long distance from the bus setdown point to your gangplank. I never noticed differentiation between foreigner and Chinese fares and boats, but I encourage you to buy your tickets beforehand. The quay area is way too busy to try to haggle, imho

Helpful information.
I have read, and seen photos of the less expensive cruise ships. It seemed that passengers could tie cloth-line outside their cabin to hang all their personal garments. Perhaps, that would be the different style mentioned by poster #1. Well, consider it as cultural immersion, plus saving of laundry money.
