I realise that this is quite a long-shot, but I appear to be missing my laptop charger and was wondering if there was anywhere in Beijing that I might be able to get hold of one.

You can purchase a new one online and COD. Search ‘hp pavilion 充电器’. It could be as cheap as 30rmb+delivery.
There are many second hand computer malls. Tell the vendors: 19.5V, 3.33A. If you reply with your current location, some BJ resident should be able to provide direction.

Guess it is too late, but the surefire way to get anything electronic in Beijing is to go to the electronics market in Zhongguancun. If you dont want to trek out to NW beijnig, BaiNaoHui in Chaoyangmenwai has just about everything you need. In and out in 10 minutes.
