In the building where I live there are some cabinets with fire extinguishers downstairs. They are marked "Ãð»ðÆ÷". Some witty person removed the two lines in "»ð" to make it say "ÃðÈËÆ÷".

Ah crap. The characters are not visible.... anyway, it said "mie huo qi" as in fire extinguisher, and somebody changed it to "mie ren qi" as in people-exterminator, or whatever you want to call it.

You have to laugh at the signs that some muppet tried to translate into English.
the problem is, the Chinese get a foreigner to translate for them, and don't believe it, aand go with what they had in the first place.
My favourite in Beijing was a sign that said: "Please take care of the fire". Now, what are you to do if you see a fire? put it out? Put petrol on it? stand guard?
