Hello, @HighwayToHell!
Thanks for the useful information!
I plant to go to Chengdu and Larung Gar on August 30-September 5. Is it enough? or should I rebook my return flight to September 7 or 8?

Also, taking the bus from Chengdu to Larung Gar is the best bet?

Hi all,
Larung Gar is at 4000m high, aren't you afraid of altitude sickness, going up that fast? I want to follow your itinary but I am afraid of getting sick that fast.
I've already been to 4800m high before in Nepal and China but never in one day. Can you tell me if you felt okay? If not can you advise some interesting spots to stop by for a day or two?
Thanks a lot
Alex

Hi! When do you plan to go? I hope your travel dates coincides with my partner :)

I extended my stay for another 3 days.
as for the spots to stop, I think Kangding is the best option, according to traveler's who have been on the same route. Spend a night or two in Kangding :) Also, there's a medicine that you can buy in Chengdu for altitude sickness. They say you should take it 1-2 days before the climb then you should
be fine.

hi Tibsol
I'm planning to go end of sept, hopefully the raining season will be done by then
Thanks for the advice, Kangding (2400m) and garze (3500m) seem to be good stops

People who take the bus straight from Chengdu to Larung Gar suffer badly, can even die from the altitude.

Now only the Chinese are enjoying this side effect of too-fast tourism, as the Institute has been closed to foreigners since mid-June.

Are foreigners allowed to enter Larung Gar this year? I'm a photographer, since the demolition has been almost completed, is Larung Gar looking as stunning as before now that it has half the houses it had?
I'm planning to go in mid-late October from Chengdu.
Also, how long is the bus ride and from which bus station in Chengdu do I take it? Will make a stop in one of the towns listed to get accustomed to the high altitude.
