Hi,
We are very soon arriving in Beijing and would like to follow the Great wall from one place to another if possible but not spending days on it. Heard that Jingshangling-Gubeikou was an ok distance - but it is apparently closed at the moment. Anybody who knows of good places to go from/to for like three-four hours? Preferably not too many tourists.... Thanks!

Was in Gubeikou last year and cannot imagine it can be closed as it is mainly open country.

Lianhuachi to Mutianyu.
The Great Wall experience for small change.
Cheap public transport to Huairou. No entry fee (Even when you get to Mutianyu). A public bus that takes you right to the begining of the section from Huairuo. Not TOO difficult or easy. Get off at Mutianyu and take public transport back.
