Is there a direct bus leaving Pudong Airport for Hangzhou? If not, what are my options? Do I need to go into the centre of Shanghai?
I plan to stay a couple of days in Hangzhou before making my way to Huangshan, and saving Shanghai for the balance of days left before my trip ends. Thanks.

Yes, there is. What time is your flight arriving? Buses leave at 1030, 1200, 1330, 1530, 1730 and 1930. These cost 100 RMB.
Cheers!

I took this bus. The one I was on had a/c, reclining deeply upholstered seats. No rest room though, and it is a long ride, two 1/2 to three hours. Good driver and felt safe.
Thanks to both for your response.
Jocelyn, my flight is scheduled to arrive at 3 PM, so after clearing customs I will probably miss the 1530 bus to Hangzhou. Still, the 1730 one sounds okay even though it means I arrive at my destination at night. Do you know whereabouts in Hangzhou the passengers get dropped off? .........hopefully in centre of town?
BTW is the abovementioned bus to be found just outside the arrival gate in Pudong Airport?

The bus goes to Yellow Dragon Stadium, which is close enough to downtown 2.5km from the northeast end of the lake
The bus is somewhat tricky to find, it involves going upstairs then down random flights of stairs; if you can't find it, ask uniformed staff where to go (the touts will say "no bus" to try to get you)
Thanks, and especially for that part about touts saying "no bus".........now that I know, I won't give up on the bus so easily :)

Yes, you'll definitely miss the 1530 departure, but you should be able to get on the 1730 one. Good luck!
The counter to buy the long-distance bus tickets isn't too hard to find, email me and I'll send you some photos to help you find your way around.
Cheers!
Wow, what a difference it makes when directions come with visuals. Thanks a million, Jocelyn.
