We are visiting the Mutianyu section of the great wall as a day trip with a private guide & car - any suggestions as to where we could visit on our return journey to Beijing - we were thinking of possibly thinking of the olympic village - is their much to see or do there ? any other ideas ??
Thanks

Beijing well there are many markets, Silk Streen Markets pearl Markets or the YA show markets, The night food markets are interesting...I got to eat a Scorpian and The temple of heaven is good.
Also something you must See are the chinese acrobats, They were absolutly brilliant. They are something you cannot miss.
I don't need flaming for my suggestion of the Acrobatics)

I have heard that if you drive past the Olympic Village on the 4th Ring you can catch a glimpse of the construction, but that you can't really get too close. The Nest should be worth a peek, I'd imagine.

I've been to Mutianyu twice (sightseeing with different friends who come to China) and don't really remember anything of note on the journey. This could be because the route our driver took, but maybe not. Have a good time at the Wall, though - take a picnic so you don't have to buy food there, and enjoy your day!
