If you do get a bus to Stanley, take the kids up to the upper level & sit in the front (there were double decker busses plying the route last time I went.) Agree on Repulse Bay, which is on the way to Stanley).

Andy,
1. This may be helpful to you: Budget travel basics for Hong Kong
2. truckstophero, glad you're still here - I was wondering, after an exchange you had with someone a few weeks ago on another branch.

(That would be the Butt Fast Food Centre)

L'Hotel is quite a bit nicer than the YMCA (not that the YMCA isn't nice too). I'm just saying, price difference isn't the only difference between the two hotels.

caskemp. hehe.. I am always here! just trying to hold my tongue.. but it doesnt work.

Go to www.tripadvisor.com and then Hong Kong hotels and you'll find hotel reviews and ratings from travellers - Your hotel is there. It's great site for mid range and more expensive hotels
Thanks habby, ive been comparing hotels on a similar site, with guest reviews, and the L`Hotel has had very good reviews. Nothing beats local knowledge however. One more question about HK in general. If I was to buy some Jade jewellery there, could anyone recommend places to either seek out or avoid. I cant tell the difference between fake and real Jade, so would really appreciate some input from fellow travellers.
Thanks a bunch, Andy...
