Although the Kashgar market is frequented by many travelers and tourists, it's still pretty impressive. I especially remember hanging out in the Ice Cream/Kung Fu Movie parlors.

But for an even better experience, head to the tiny village of Zawa, 20 Clicks or so west of Hotan on the Southern Silk Road. The agricultural hamlet's periodic market totally envelopes the town and I can almost guarantee that you'll be the only Westerner in attendance. It's as exotic a market as I've seen in this part of the world.
