I will reach Guangzhou on the 9th april flying from Bangkok.
Can anyone tip me for a quite cheap hotel ?
Last time i paid 200 yuan but it was a business class hotel : Lido Hotel.
I do not want to go there again but i want 1 in the same area and cheaper.
I will also use my gps because i want to walk.
Will that be a problem in China (using a gps in public) ?
I know Chinese authorities are quite conservative !
Thanks.
Ask Jacky. He is a travel agent at Haizhu Square and may have an idea or two for you. Tell him Ruth sent you.

Haizhu Square is very close to Beijing Lu where the Lido Hotel is.

The timing of your expected date of arrival, i.e. 9th April, could be tricky for finding good hotel deals. It coincides with the opening of the Guangzhou Trade Fair. You will be competing for rooms with thousands of business travellers.

OP, out of curosity, what do you gain out of walking with a GPS that you don't get just walking?

Don't stare at your GPS while walking, there are open manholes around, and, it's generally thought of as "attention-seeking behaviour"

I agree with #4, I think OP is going to have a difficult, if not impossible time looking for accommodation with those requirements.
#5, I guess OP's trying not to get lost. Or, trying to get more mileage out of a new toy.
Cheers!
Hi all.
I am taking my gps along simply to use it a a guide and not to waste time.
Like we use this board or the LP guidebook.
I want to walk and if i mark my hotel it will be quite useful to return back from where i am.
Well this is my point of view !
For the hotel i will try reserve in advance and thanks Ruth for the email.
Any more advices are most welcome !
