Hi there,

as it happens I will be able to be in Hongkong for just one day this weekend. As I have never been there, I would like to know, what to do and what are the most important things to see. Do you have any suggestions or itinaries ? Should I book a guided tour (if yes, which operators would you recommend ?)

I also would like to know if there are any problems with a woman traveling alone in Hongkong. So far I always thought that HKG is a safe place.

Thank you very much for your help.
Best regards from Frankfurt/Germany

No need to book a tour.

Very safe for everyone, including women.

Important things depend of personal preference. I'd include star ferry ride, tram ride on HK island, visit to the Peak if weather is clear, visit to an outdoor market and a sample of some Cantonese food on the way.

Star ferry, subway, tram, Victoria peak, food, maybe a spot of book shopping.

I'm going to HK again On Tuesday and have always found it to be very safe for solo female travellers, (knock on wood) :)
